Simeiz Simeiz is a resort settlement located in 17 km from Yalta on the south slope of the Crimea mountains main ridge. The settlement is stretched along the Black Sea shore. There are very picturesque surroundings in Simeiz. The climate of Simeiz as well as of the whole Crimea's South Shore is defined by south location of the resort, warm non-freezing Black Sea and protective wall of mountains. Among the mountains surrounding Simeiz, we can mark out the beautiful peaks of At-Bash, Ay-Petri, the cliffs Chaka-tysh and Nishan-kaya. Below these peaks, the Simeiz is beset by stone mass of very fanciful forms – Koshka, Panea, Diva, Lebedinoe Krylo and others.

History In 1900, the brothers Nikolay Sergeevich and Ivan Sergeevich Maltsovs begin creating a modern resort in Simeiz. They needed an outstanding building engineer to realize all their courageous ideas. Maltsovs found an engineer Semenov who became their faithful friend, team-mate and assistant. Yakov Petrovich designed the plan of a future resort settlement with streets and cottage places, and implemented it. Sales of allotments actively began from 1902. Yakov Sevemov made the projects and built 18 from 38 cottages of New Simeiz. Not all of these cottages remained till our days. Source: "Simeiz: a trip through the old cottages" book by M.M. Petrov. |
