Koeppen stressed the "Crimean Miscellany" (1837), which is "nature as it marked the limit of a luxurious country southern coast." Indeed, so many emblems of natural there is nowhere else on the southern coast of Crimea - Mountain Cat, Ai-Petri, Diva, Monk, sir, fabulous Nishan-Kai Chakatysh, At-Bash, etc. Therefore, turquoise pearl necklace in the South Coast and called Simeis, "Simeston" in Greek - a sign, sign, mark.

"The arrival of the writer Griboyedov in the Crimea, before heading to Persia, was with him, Ivan Akimovich Maltsev. They visited the area today and have been fascinated Simeiza bay and beach, the rock diva. Here they decided to swim. When bathing, as so often happens, slipped from his finger a wedding ring with Ivan Akimovich. All searches were in vain, and the loss of Maltsov was terribly disappointed. He was determined not to leave here until they will be found a ring, because he considered it an evil omen. But the time has come for departure, and so dear to ring the sea and did not return. Mount Ivan Akimovich was inconsolable. Then Griboyedov came up an original idea - if the ring has sunk into the water, you have to put up with it, but if Maltsov will become the owner of that part of the coast, where the ring is lost, it would be like and will not be lost. Subsequently Maltsov and went away."
Three years later, after visiting Simeiz of I.A. HISTORY
The territory of modern Simeiz has been populated a long time ago. History of Crimea has many hundreds of years. A first human appeared here in the Lithic Age. Tavrian culture arisen between the Bronze and Iron Ages. Tavres occupied the mountain part of Crimea from Evpatoria to Feodosia until 2 age AD. In that time they disappeared as a separate ethnic group. It is still unknown, who lived around Simeiz during several centuries. Goth-alans appeared here in the 6th age. During 3-5 ages AD the whole Europe and Asia were the arena of great movements of nations. Warlike tribes of Goths crossed huge territories, many states ceased to exist under their pressure. Later, the tribes lost their warrior ardour and began to settle on the ground preferring peaceful labor of landowners. Their progeny built settlements and fortifications in the middle ages. The fortifications were necessary because of invasions of Batiy hordes in the 13th age. Such fortifications were built on Ayu-Dag mountain, in Oreanda, Gaspra, Alupka, Kastropol and Simeiz. But their existence was not long: they were destroyed by Nagay hordes and were never recovered.
Further history of Simeiz can be traced from 10-13 ages. There was a fortified cloister, temple and habitable structures. Extant remains of battle walls tell about existence of Genovese fortification on Panea rock. The scientists made a conclusion that the Genovese fortress could be built between 1380-1420 yrs. This fortification died as others in 1475 after Turkish invasion.
The first Crimea travellers in 18 century describe these lands as accumulation of typical Tatar hamlets. Russian noblemen began their development only after 1823. No one Russian landowner was mentioned in travellers' notes before this year. The first Russian landlord who bought lands in Simeiz was Dmitriy Vasilyevich Naryshkin. The Naryshkin's name is kept in Simeiz even in rocks: Naryshkin's Stones are located in front of his estate (on the left from Ligo Morskaya hotel). The first owners beautified their lands: made a park, gardens and vineyards. The next landlord, Feodosiy Dmitrievich Revelioti followed the same way, and the third landlord in Simeiz was colonel Frank. At that time, there were almost no free lands on the Simeiz seashore left. The travellers described the amenities of these places and their changing owners. Later, only two main owners remained: count Field Marshal Dmitriy Alekseevich Milyutin and well-known manufacturer Major General Sergey Ivanovich Maltsov.
In the beginning of XX century, the New Simeiz resort settlement has been built by the initiative of the brothers Nikolay Sergeevich and Ivan Sergeevich Maltsovs (sons of S.I. Maltsov). This settlement soon became one of the most prestigious and comfortable resorts of Crimea. A new resort park was made there, new villas were built. Many of these villas remained till our days – Kseniya, Mechta, Miro-Mare, N.K. Aleksandrova-Dolnika (now it is Ligo Morskaya hotel), Diva, Kameya, Nyukta, Hayl, Solbi, Beliy Lebed (Ampir) and other. The most houses were built by the projects of the military engineer and, later, General Yakov Petrovich Semenov. Villa Kseniya was built by the project of Royal Court architect N.P. Krasnov (the author of Livadiyskiy and Dulber palaces). The Imperator Nikolay II with his family visited Simeiz and met with I.S. Maltsov in 1912.
The representatives of Maltsovs family invested huge means to development of these lands. They created one of the best resorts on the South Shore of Crimea.
